lots of people have this big misconception that admiring someone and being inspired by them needs to become a game of copy-paste. you may admire the way someone shows up in the world and approaches situations, but, trying to force yourself into a mold thats just not you, where you don’t even have similar characteristics and where you abandon your own strength to try to be EXACTLY like someone else isn’t going to be how you grow and become confident in yourself. in fact, its actually going to facilitate an identity crisis in you and a constant game of comparing yourself to the person you admire and being shocked and confused when you still somehow can’t fully possess the traits they have.

you have to understand that everyone has their signature strengths and weaknesses, different personalities, traits that make them uniquely them. YOU also have your own strengths, personality traits, and things that make you who you are. you are doing a huge disservice to yourself by throwing all of the intricacies of yourself away with the hopes of fitting into a mold of someone who may be more outgoing, more charismatic, more social etc etc. rather, tap into what makes you uniquely you, and you will be sooo much happier with who you are, but also, other people will naturally pick up on your authenticity. ultimately, for every person you admire, their unique strengths are the reason they show up in the ways that they do. just imagine how much more authentic, inspiring, and confident you’d be if you tripled down on your strengths and your cute little traits.

its totally OKAY to be inspired by people and to admire traits in others and maybe try to incorporate some practices into your own life, but it doesn’t make any sense to try to copy and paste someone else’s personality and literally try to become them. tap into the things that make you you and go all in on them, you won’t regret it. don’t force yourself to fit an exact mold of someone you admire because there is so much more that goes on behind the scenes in the lives of each person, but also so much to their upbringing and life experiences that make them who they are.

OH MY GOD, what a coincidence of a tweet i just saw today at 2am. this is part of what im trying to articulate, although no where near as eloquently as this tweet hahah.
