hey! i’m hawa, the current co-president of cseed @ uw, an organization on campus dedicating to inspiring more engineering students to innovate and lowering the barriers to exposure of tech entrepreneurship.
year #1 of building and running cseed has been so much fun and full of learning! hands down, it’s been the most rewarding thing i’ve done during my college experience. i think i finally understand what it means for a group of people to come together and care about a cause greater than themselves. agnostic of college admissions decisions, resume value add, and anything else people tend to participate in clubs and initiatives for.
for me personally, i feel that creating cseed has been a genuinely pure thing thats been created for service of the UW computer science + engineering community & the community beyond. we strongly believe that students who are inspired & empowered to solve problems in the world and do what they love will ultimately change the world and make positive impact in their communities beyond undergrad. this will benefit all of us in the long term.
if you want some lore on how/why cseed was started, check out: [active draft] why i am worried for the next gen of engineering students…
there have been ups, downs, stressful times, ambiguous conflicts we’ve had to navigate, and lots of pizza :) here is some stuff that I learned that I want to share with those who are currently running orgs or thinking of starting their own or just being a part of an org at your school:
