lately, i've been thinking about art and the balance between subjectivity and objectivity. when we see good taste, we just know. but when we see something bad, some people immediately notice, while others don't.
can taste be developed? i'm not sure. but what is taste? is it having a clear vision for your art? is it mastering color theory? i honestly have no clue. so far, it seems like some people just have taste, and some don't.
one day, i'd love to hear your thoughts. can taste be developed?

so the past 6-7 months, i’ve been doing a lot of thinking about taste, and having plenty of discussions with both people who i think have really great taste, and those who i think dont have very great taste.

i had a yap fest about HCDE (a major @ UW, human centered design & engineering students ) vs Interaction Design Students @ UW. I actually didn’t know interaction design existed until fall 2023 quarter when i met our awesome cseed designer, farrel.
before meeting farrel, i kept having experiences with HCDE designers that really made me question if any designers had taste at all, and left me in search of “designers with taste”. little did i know that stumbling upon the world of interaction design students would help me answer LOTS of questions on why i felt the HCDE students were lacking a bit in design intuition and taste.
here is a blurb of my discord yap sesh, ill elaborate more later…
