it’s all removing things. the only thing that was adding is putting in electrode to block pain signals if there was nothing else you could do.
realized surgery wasn’t fixing the root problem.
its like you have a house, and house has a leak, rain comes in and causes water damage. surgeries were the likes of taking out the bad drywall and replacing it, but not fixing the leak in the roof.
thought that if he did a perfect surgery, people would always get better
would ask patients lots of questions about their life. found that patients who did certain things would get better, and patients who didn’t do those things got worse
